Every year the community of Eagle River, Alaska, hosts the Bear Paw Festival, a delight of vendors, parades and events for all ages. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Bear Paw Festival, and the theme was “Groovin’ with Bear Paw”.

The Wasilla Primrose Retirement Community decided that they too, could ‘groove’ with the Bear Paw Festival and entered into the parade. A contest was held to officially name the Primrose Entry, and the winner was “Oldies but Goodies”.

Several residents and staff then made signs and decorations on the Thursday before the parade. Bright and early on Saturday, July 10th, residents and staff got out of bed, dusted off their tye-dye and drove the 20 minutes or so to Eagle River.

There they decorated the Primrose Van in style and walked in the parade with Prim-Rosie, greeting the hundreds of people lining the streets. Bright sunny smiles made the otherwise overcast day a sunny affair.
