Lima residents enjoying expressing their inner-artist

Lima, OH, Retirement Communities

Lima Primrose residents are exploring the positive benefits of coloring as adults by letting out their inner artist. As Pablo Picasso once said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”

Coloring is a form of relaxation which is comparable to those who like to cook or do gardening. It also increases our morale, because we take pride and accomplishment in the development of the picture. Cognition is also improved because of the decision making in picking the picture and the colors. Also the attention span is strengthened as you focus on the picture.

With coloring you are not setting out to become an artist, but to experience the positive benefits of creative expression. Primrose of Lima began this new program August 5th, prior to lunch, and will do it again on August 27th. We are going to explore landscapes and other scenery pictures. Residents may work on pictures at their own pace. The residents were surprised to know that there are staff members that are “closet” color-lovers also!
