Kansas City Primrose’s First Annual Silver Prom

Kansas City, MO, Retirement Communities

What a blast! This past Friday, Primrose of Kansas City held our first annual Silver Prom, and for two hours we had fun dancing, stuffing our face with cake and washing it down with punch. Many of our residents and dressed for the occasion, and Shawnee Country dazzled us with two hours of old time country favorites. After everyone voted, our winners are Jim Thompson for Prom King and Verde Walker for Prom Queen. They shared a dance together and we took a lot of pictures. Jim is a great dancer and asked each lady to dance with him. Verde bought a new hot pink gown that fit perfect! One of our vendors (Three Rivers Hospice) came and took glamour shots of each resident in front of a backdrop of sliver fringe and balloons, and they will send us digital copies so each resident can have a picture to keep. For many of our residents this was the first prom they have ever been to. They shared stories about high school and how the boys went off to war so no dances were held. It was a fun time to sit and talk and enjoy good music. We are all looking forward to our second annual prom next May!
