Ernestine was born and raised in Zanesville. Her family steeled in the north part of Muskingum County in what is called the Mattingly Settlement on Creamery Road. She attended St. Mary of the Spring College (Ohio Dominican) and Ohio University.
Before retiring she was the Administrator of the Mental Health Center on Bell Street. Since she lost her husband 25 years ago, she has enjoyed traveling and doing volunteer work at Good Samaritan Hospital, Genesis Hospice, John McIntire Library and St. Thomas Church. She enjoys in her spare time reading, knitting and playing cards (mostly bridge). She has one daughter and son-in-law that reside in New Jersey and one granddaughter that resides in Rhode Island.
She has lived at Primrose since the doors opened in October 2008, and she has enjoyed living here. She also brought 3 of her friends along with her to live here as well.
