In keeping with Valentine tradition, a new king and queen have been crowned at Primrose Kansas City. As has been the case in years past, the polls opened in the days before February 14th. All residents are invited and encouraged to vote for their neighbors (or even themselves!) through 5:00 pm on Valentine’s Day. When dinner service begins, the winners are announced.

This year, LEC Abigail Lancaster called the reigning king and queen, Martin Buckman and Jayne Edlin, to the front of the room to assist with the announcement. The first announcement was for the 2014 king—Ralph Shackelford. A surprised and jubilant Ralph made his way to the microphone where Martin passed the scepter (a 32” grabber) to his successor. Ralph patiently awaited the naming of his queen—Harriett Watson. Harriett was stunned and when asked if she had any words she’d like to share with her adoring constituents, her response was a chuckle and a “Good heavens, no!” Once 2013 queen Jayne passed the jeweled tiara to Harriett, the newest members of Primrose KC royalty posed for their first official portrait.

As always, the event was highly anticipated by the residents and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Congratulations to Harriett and Ralph!
