With someone like you
a pal so good and true,
I finally left it all behind
to go and find
a place that’s known
to loved ones at home,
just a spot to call our own.
We’re finding perfect peace
where joys will never cease
‘Neath a great Midwestern sky.
We’ve built a sweet little nest–
in Primrose we have the best–
and invite the rest of the world
to stop by.

Maurice and I grew up in families and churches that loved to sing in four part harmony. Even now when our children and grandchildren gather around our table, we sing our blessing in harmony. And when on trips across the United States, Mexico, or Brazil (where we lived), we sang everything from fun songs to hymns in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.

One of the songs we harmonized on was “Let the Rest of the World Go By.” When we moved into Primrose Retirement Community, Maurice began substituting words to fit our new situation. Since both of us have experience as editors, we kept changing a word here and there until it expressed our feelings about our new home.
