One of the best things about working at or visiting Primrose is hearing the stories the residents have to tell and seeing them beam with pride when they show you something special and dear to them.
This week at Primrose of Mankato there was a lot of that going on! We celebrated “Homemade Happiness” week — this year’s theme for National Assisted Living Week.
Residents baked homemade cookies during a baking group with our Executive Director, Brooke Olson. They shared stories of baking and cooking and favorite recipes along the way.
There was a “Homemade Memories” reminiscing group, a great opportunity to hear some of those wonderful stories about things they used to make at home when they were younger, and how much things have changed.
The highlight of the week was a “Homemade Arts and Crafts Show” where the residents could sign up to have a booth and display things they’ve made. There was everything from oil paintings to wooden Christmas ornaments!
Residents shared stories about the projects they made. Residents, staff, and family members alike enjoyed walking from booth to booth to see the beautiful arts and crafts and hear the stories that went along with them.
