Mansfield, OH, Retirement Communities

Residents of Primrose weren’t exactly sure what they were getting themselves into when they volunteered and signed up for stuffing back to school book bags for children in need.

Residents went on two different occasions to “The New Store” to volunteer their time and hard work.

The New Store provides new clothing, accessories and personal hygiene items to needy school children in grades K-8 who are referred by area school principals. The store provided area students with backpacks filled with age-appropriate school supplies to start the school year off right.

Residents gathered in an organized assembly line with various items to stuff into the new backpacks such as scissors, glue, notebooks, pencil boxes, Kleenexes, zip lock bags etc.

Our first outing we stuffed 155 backpacks and our second outing beat our goal and we stuffed 175.

The residents really enjoyed themselves despite the hard work.
