L to R: Residents: Lois Engler (the birthday girl), Pat Kranz and Lillian Becker enjoying the evening at the campfire.
Bismarck sees only 3 months of summer, so that short amount of time is jam-packed with summer activities. Primrose residents have taken a few summer outings, but this past month we brought the summer fun to Primrose!
We started the month out by celebrating the 4th of July. Primrose in Bismarck is located right up the hill from the ND State Capitol, so we were able to see their large fireworks display from our front yard! Residents could also view the fireworks from our upper commons area.
We also hosted a campfire complete with s’mores, cold beverages, and a campfire sing-along, with local talent Jerri Lindteigen. It turned out to be perfect weather for the occasion.
Residents Clem Fleck and Fred Kaelberer helped with the fire, and staff members roasted marshmallows and served the s’mores. Jerri played some favorite tunes and took requests from the residents. Jerri even sang her version of “Happy Birthday” to resident Lois Engler who turned 92 that day.
The following week, we celebrated National Ice Cream Month by having an Ice Cream Social. Residents took the afternoon to relax, visit with friends, and enjoy some refreshing ice cream.
We are very blessed to be able to fit in all these fun summer activities. We hope your summer is treating you well, too!
