Accordion player Nancy Facciani

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month so we turn the Spotlight on Accordionist Nancy Facciani.
Sometimes volunteers come from unexpected places. I always said that if you want to know something you ask your Primrose Beautician, right? That is exactly what this Life Enrichment Coordinator did when looking for an accordion player.
Sure enough, Beautician Della Skul said, “As a matter of fact, I have this client…” and the rest is history!
Thursday afternoons in our Hobby Room, toes are tapping and even a polka dance or two have been seen along with a joke or two thanks to Accordionist and Primrose Volunteer Nancy Facciani.
Nancy was born and raised in Fresno, CA, and started playing when she was five years old. She currently lives half the year in rural Wyoming and the other half right here in Pueblo, CO, where her two grandsons are the biggest draw.
Her daughter, son-in-law and the grandsons live in the “In-Law House,” and she and her husband live in a cottage they call the “Out-Law-House,” on the same property.
Nancy has played on two different accordions for the Primrose crowd and has collected accordions all her life. Once she accumulated a dozen or so, she began to give them away and continues to collect, acquire and give away accordions.
She has played all over Wyoming, including the Capitol, The Governor’s Mansion, birthday parties, at Melodrama’s, and for Seniors. She never takes money — she purely plays to bring joy to her listeners.
This lively lady has become one of our favorite attractions at Primrose, and yet we must say farewell in April when she heads north to Wyoming for the Summer, and then returns again this fall. Thank you, Nancy, for enriching our lives and giving so generously of yourself.
