Moving to Primrose in September of 2010 was one of the best decisions that I will always be thankful for. My husband had just died in July, and I broke my back 2 days later. I had a caretaker in my home for a short time, and realized that I would not be able to stay in my home alone. Our family visited Primrose, which was new to Gillette; we all fell in love with the place. With the help of my children I moved to Primrose in Gillette September 2010. I was one of the very first residents so I was able to pick my apartment on the Independent Living side with a great view and two bedrooms. One of the rooms I use as a craft room.
I was married to Vince in 1942, he went to the Air Corp. and I became the Postmistress of Rozet, Wyoming.
The postmaster came to install me into my position, and then realized that I was not 21 years old and he could not install me until my birthday, still a month away. I retained my position, but I was not legally installed until my birthday. He was very embarrassed that this had happened.
I was one of the first Postmistresses in Wyoming, the position which I held for 37 years. We remodeled the building that the post office was in and lived in the back of it. We raised 4 children in this building.
I retired in 1980, and we traveled in our RV seeing several areas of the country.
Primrose is my home, it is very clean, good food, plenty of entertainment with other residents.
The beauty parlor is one of my favorite places to go and visit with friends and get my hair done. I assist with our public librarian to help sort the books in our library at Primrose. I am in the library quite a bit. I love to read and with the large print books that we have, I am still able to do this very important past-time of mine.
I have been at Primrose for over 2 years and feel very fortunate to live here. The staff and residents all make Primrose feel like a big family.
