The Mansfield Primrose hosted its recent style show around Gorgeous Grandmothers’ Day.

Primrose staff contacted a local Hospice thrift store to ask if they could borrow some outfits for the style show. Additionally, three residents volunteered to model the borrowed outfits.

The outfits included everything from jewelry to shoes, hats and purses. Some styles included a beachy theme, dressy skirt suit and one very classy pant suit ensemble.

The show started with low-key numbers: one staff member wore a plain white t-shirt and capris jean pants to show how the plain-jane outfit could be accessorized with a bright orange scarf, straw fedora hat, orange designer purse, waist belt and orange flip flops for a day-around-town look. Next, all the accessories were removed and replaced with a dressy black blazer ¾ length sleeve, bling necklace, red stiletto heels, bling bracelets and silver clutch purse to show a dressier, night-on-the-town look using the same plain white t-shirt and capris jeans.

Staff volunteers also modeled their own special styles. A speaker narrated the descriptions for each style while background music trailed the models down the runway.

A $10.00 gift certificate was donated by the Hospice thrift store. It was awarded to the resident with the most great grandchildren – Maddie Harter was the winner, with 17 great grandchildren.

Another gift certificate was given to staff member, Janice, who won it in the drawing for participating volunteers.

The style show event was a huge success and plans are being made for an even bigger one next year!
