Primrose resident Pearl Hayer
[Welcome, gentle reader. This is the 17th installment in a series of blogs written by actual Primrose residents. Please return often to read more! — Ed]
I have loved to read ever since I was able. I read to my children when they were growing up, I read the paper everyday, and I currently finished reading a biography about Barbara Bush. She is such a fascinating woman.
As much as I love to read, I also love being able to share my love for reading with others. That is why I love the book club here at Primrose. I look forward to it every week. It is a quiet, happy time for me and the others in the group.
The book we are reading right now has us all on the edge of our seats. It is quite the mystery! We often stop to talk about what we think is going to happen. It takes a lot out of me to try not to read ahead of the group throughout the week, but I have done well so far! I love being able to relate to the characters and immerse myself in a book. There is no other feeling like it, and I’m glad I can still experience it. Our Life Enrichment Coordinator and other book club members read the book aloud, so even those who cannot see well enough anymore to read can still experience the book.
I have been surrounded by books my whole life. When I moved home, to Primrose, I was so pleased to see that others love books as much as I do.
