Oktoberfest Queen Ruth and King Bernie
Prost! Laughs and polka music were heard throughout the courtyard as Primrose of Pueblo celebrated its 3rd annual Oktoberfest last week with almost every resident, staff, several family members and friends in attendance. The event was organized by staff member Heidi, from Berlin, who made sure we had genuine German style beer and soft pretzels. The tone was set by the Al Kaly Shriner band who brought all 20 members to play polkas, waltzes and festive songs for all to enjoy. The band donates their time in exchange for contributions to help the Shriner fund to assist children who need surgery. The fun event raised almost $500.00 towards this worthy cause.
The highpoint of the event was when the crowning of the Queen and King took place. The residents voted the week prior and it was extremely close. Host Heidi presented a beautiful bouquet to Queen Ruth and last year’s Queen Ann presented Ruth with the crown. For the first time ever we had a King when King Bernie was crowned. This fall tradition is sure to stay! Many thanks to all the supporters and the Primrose Staff for making this such a success.
