On May 29th, our Garden and Flower Club in Austin, MN, went shopping for flowers, herbs, and vegetables. Our first stop was to a flower and garden store called Bergs Nursery. There we were given a lesson or two and how to plant and care for flowers and vegetables. Armed with all of that new knowledge, we purchased two big pots of geraniums to place in front of our building.

We then headed to Hy-Vee were we purchased our stacking pots to plant some marigolds in. These stacking pots were a big hit with the residents, family members, and guests.

Next stop – Walmart, where we purchased cucumbers, zucchini, chives, tomatoes, dill, parsley, cilantro, and oregano. Our residents plan to grow their own garden and, in return, the kitchen will prepare food using the herbs and vegetables that are harvested.

Finally, we planted everything. All of the residents enjoyed spending time out in the sun, and with the help of everyone, we even had time to plant a fairy garden.

We picked a great day to get out into the community to meet new people, and it was nice to get some education before we started our projects. We have a great team here at Primrose to help care for our plants!
