On Saturday, May 2, the ladies of Findlay Primrose gathered in the Pub, clad in traditional Kentucky Derby attire, and wearing hats they had designed and decorated earlier! They all watched in eager anticipation, while sipping on Mint Julips and nibbling on delicious Derby Pie, as American Pharaoh rallied in the stretch, beating Firing Line by a length.

As shown here, Donna, seated, and Georgia, on right, smile for the camera before the race as Betty raises her official Derby glass for luck.

Betty said that she had wanted to go to the Kentucky Derby as far back as she could remember. She finally got her chance in 2010 when her friend, Cindy, invited her to go to Louisville with her. “The weather was lousy. It rained all day before and the day of the race. The mud was a-flyin,” she laughed. But despite the inclement weather she thoroughly enjoyed herself and brought home a Derby glass, which she has used every year since!
