As we enter into the heart of the Christmas season, the importance of spirituality in the lives of millions of seniors takes center stage. In fact, 77% of seniors are members of churches, synagogues, or other religious institutions. They volunteer to help out in their churches, they mentor people from all walks of life in their communities, and they are passionate about their beliefs.
At Primrose, many of our residents strive to continue the lifelong journey of growing in their faith – and they love sharing their years of wisdom with friends and family members. Small groups, church services, Bible studies and charitable giving are common activities amongst the people in our communities – and they all act as powerful evidence of the spirituality that exists in the lives of our residents.
There have been many studies, by many different professional organizations, performed over the years on the effect of spirituality on the health and well-being of seniors. Those with an active spiritual life have been shown to experience less instances of physical disability, less depression, longer life, better immune systems and lower blood pressure. Many of our residents also experience these types of benefits when coming to Primrose. They find that they have more time to focus on their faith, to fellowship with their friends and family, and to relax in the knowledge that their physical and spiritual needs are provided for.
It is truly a joy and an inspiration to see our residents putting their faith into action each day. We are so blessed to serve them, and to learn from them. Merry Christmas from everyone at Primrose Retirement Communities!
