Kim Trudeau and resident Marie Marcell (We’re going to have to pull this wig out again for Crazy Hair Day!)
National Assisted Living week is September 7th-13th! We look forward to planning this week every year. To kick off National Assisted Living Week we celebrate Grandparents Day on Sunday, September 7th. We have a Pie and Ice Cream Social in the afternoon where residents will be showing pictures of their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each day of the week a different theme, staff members and residents participate every year! This year’s daily themes are:
Wednesday-T-shirt and Hat Day
Friday-Support Your Favorite Sports Team Day
Saturday-Crazy Hair Day
The overall theme of the week is “The Magic of Music”. Therefore we have lots of musical entertainment scheduled. Accordion and guitar players to sing-a-longs and a one of a kind electronic orchestra played by a single musician! I think the most exciting activity planned for the whole week is the Ice Bucket Challenge for The ALS Foundation! Many of the Wausau Primrose Staff Members will be participating in the Ice Bucket Challenge and staff members will donate money to The Tim Warosh Foundation. Tim is CNA, Kim Trudeau’s other half. Kim has been a Primrose Team Member since 2009. In June of 2013 Kim came to work and shared some heartbreaking news, Tim had just been diagnosed with ALS. Kim says that the biggest challenge since Tim was diagnosed is the unknown- right now it is progressing slowly, but the uncertainty of the future is difficult. Primrose of Wausau staff is honored to be able to help a valued coworker and friend. Recently Kim was honored with our Employee of the Quarter Award. Kim has worked in healthcare for over 20 years, she has a huge family so caring is just second nature to Kim.
She loves working at Primrose because of the residents. She enjoys being able to know their likes and dislikes and she works to see that that they are always happy and satisfied. Kim loves the environment at Primrose including all the staff which she considers like family. She has worked with geriatric and pediatric patients during her career in healthcare. She decided to work in an assisted living because she wanted to be in a homey environment. A bonus for Kim and Primrose is that her back yard is literally next door so she can be here in a flash when we need her!
Good Job Kim and thank you for your dedication!
Pictures are to follow of our fun filled week!
