Myrtle Carlson's 100th Birthday Party

By | April 27, 2010

Primrose Duluth: A milestone birthday for a Primrose gemstone! Myrtle Carlson turned 100 years old and she had the 100 balloons laced to her chair to prove it.

WHAT A PARTY! Residents, friends, family and members of the community all turned out for this landmark event here in the Primrose Great Room – complete with decadent dessert treats and beverages.

In celebration, Myrtle received a garden of flowers, a library of birthday cards and a lighted figurine of the Split Rock Lighthouse which ALSO turned 100 years old in 2010. In fact, the manager of Split Rock delivered her gift personally (about a 2.5 hour drive round trip)!

Also in her honor, a program was created to hand out to each visitor as they arrived, and inside the program, we had fun facts of the last 100 years on one side and on the other, the 18 U.S. Presidents that Myrtle has lived through. On the back, we had the agenda of chronological events for her special day.

We had speakers giving their tributes and heartfelt birthday wishes, including Myrtle’s pastor and family members. She was adorned with a beautiful corsage from all of her friends at Primrose and when all was said and done, it took 8 people to help take the flowers, gifts and cards back to Myrtle’s apartment. She was SO happy and felt more special than ever. Myrtle is already looking forward to 101 balloons next year and so are we!
