Primrose Findlay has begun finishing up its first ever session of Primrose Senior University.
Twenty five seniors 55 and older have been coming for this six week course. The course participants are a mix of residents and people from the Findlay and Hancock County Community.
We started out the first week talking about the history of the American Flag and Flag protocol.
The second week we welcomed in motivational speaker, trainer and columnist Bruce Boguski. Bruce is from here in Findlay and is president of The Winner’s Edge, a peak performance consulting firm in Findlay. Bruce spoke on Keeping your Brain Alive. This was such a great session that we will have Bruce back again!
Week number three we welcomed in Pat Bauman from the Hancock County Historical Society. Pat, along with Primrose resident Linda Paul, have co-authored 3 books about the history of Findlay. In the class, we talked about the history of downtown Findlay and took a trip down memory lane.
Week four was all about how things work. Topics included: How pearls are made from Oysters, Murphy’s Law, Todays Radio, The Rubik’s Cube, Roller Coasters and how Crayons are made. There was so much to cover, we had to cover Roller Coasters and Crayons the following week! Many participants said this was their favorite Class so far!
Week five we talked about old wives tales.
Week number six will be our last time together and we will be learning about sports history and celebrating graduation.
Feedback has been positive for this first session, with participants saying they look forward to this every week and they will miss it when it’s over. We’ve already started planning our next session in the spring of 2014, which will be more weeks! Stay tuned. At Primrose Senior University, This is Living…and Learning!
