My Most Favorite City

Retirement Communities in Decatur, IL

Let me preface my remarks by expressing good feelings about several cities I have lived in the USA and abroad.

I believe my favorite “town” was Virden, Illinois. A small town located 25 miles west of Springfield, Illinois where I was raised. I can still see my mother hanging clothes out on the line, listening to the Cardinal baseball games. She was their biggest fan! I was allowed to ride my bike as far as I wanted…as long as I could still hear her radio playing.

However, Decatur, Illinois has to be my most favorite “City” since my family members moved here and my excellent tenure at Millikin University. My 2 daughters and grandchildren live here and visit me often.

My Motto: It’s been a good journey and it’s not over yet!
