September has flown by here at Primrose Retirement Community in Grand Island, Nebraska. September is always full of fun and excitement because we celebrate Assisted Living Week throughout the month.

Every week is special but during that week we kicked off Grandparents’ Day with the Waffle Man as our guest. He served up lots of delicious waffles and sausage to our residents and their families. What fun for grandparents and grandchildren to have time together!

Every day of the week had a special theme.

Monday was Patriotic Day and residents and staff dressed in red, white, and blue.

Tuesday was Western Day which included lots of western wear, evening wagon rides, and a fun western patio party complete with horseshoes, digging for “gold”, pass the horseshoe, peanuts in the shell, climbing aboard our “horse” and cowboy cookies to eat.

On Wednesday there was lots of red/black Nebraska Cornhusker outfits.

Thursday was our 50’s theme complete with afternoon sock hop, hoola hoop demo, and sodas complete with whipped cream and a cherry on top.

Friday was Crazy Hat day and there were lots of crazy hats.

Every day had an independent and assisted living resident winner with prizes at the end of the week. What fun to celebrate together and then to top it all off. . .Grand Island’s Primrose was chosen as the Best Assisted Living in Grand Island for the fourth year in a row — we are truly blessed to be a part of Grand Island’s Best!
