Every March, one of our biggest parties of the month is our St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

This year we celebrated on a Friday afternoon with an Irish Entertainer who sang us some wonderful Irish songs and shared some stories too, a game of trivia, and a dress-up contest.

There was lots of laughter and fun had by all, but one resident in particular had the most fun of all – Ernie!

Ernie is the kind of guy some might call the “class clown”. He is friendly to everyone and he’s always up for a good time. When Ernie came down the St. Patrick’s day party that afternoon he was getting a little flack from some of the ladies because he wasn’t really “dressed-up”.

So one of the ladies gave Ernie an extra green hat that she happened to have with her, however he had to wear it backward so no one would see the big flower on the front!

So then Rachel, our Life Enrichment Coordinator, said “I have this pair of green suspenders I’m not using, do you want those too?” and Ernie said, “Sure, why not?”!

So Ernie proudly wore his borrowed Irish garb all throughout the party and his name was even drawn for the dress-up contest and he won a prize!

At the end of the party he asked the woman who had borrowed him the hat if they could all get their picture taken together to remember the fun they’d had that day and to have proof that he actually wore a “woman’s hat” — her friend even joined them in the photo, above! Ernie left the party feeling very lucky & happy to live at Primrose, where there are endless opportunities to have fun, meet friends, and to try new things.
