Lucy Freshour said she had done some research for retirement living in Marion and found Primrose among the top candidates. In a conversation with a Realtor, she said they met for a tour and she fell in love with the place from the moment she walked in the door.
“I felt peace and calm,” she said of the environment. “It was about lunch time and I saw how people interacted with one another. I liked that and I still do. All the residents are very pleasant. I never felt like a stranger here and you can pretty much do what you want to do.”
The ninth of 10 children (six brothers and three sisters, with one remaining sibling), she said she went to school in Morral which no longer exists. “Back then it was fabulous,” she said. She also recalls visiting the Grand Prairie Cemetery as a young girl and placing flowers and flags on veterans’ grave markers.
Having someone to chat with is important to Lucy, she said. “I enjoy visiting with all the residents — man or woman,” she said. “I just feel so comfortable here and relax. I dearly love Pastor Lippert. He tells the Bible like it is and so you can understand it. He knows so much about the Bible.”
Lucy is a regular for entertainment and other activities. She also enjoys going out for lunch and to events at the Palace Theatre. “I absolutely love all the entertainment here,” she said, adding “especially when they sing songs I know.”
Another plus, Lucy noted, is housekeeping. “I’m happy with the girls who clean. I don’t have to do that anymore,” She said and laughed.
