“America the Beautiful” played in the background while guests arrived last Friday November 9th. Finally at 11:00 a.m. the Garden Café was completely filled with residents and family members, encircled by the entire caring staff.

Life Enrichment led the group in The Pledge of Allegiance. Our five newest veterans sat up front and were recognized with a certificate specific to their branch of military service. This group of amazing men were all World War II Veterans, Army, Army Air Corp, and Navy.

Ten other Primrose Veterans were also recognized with a Veteran’s Day Certificate, as were all the spouses and family members of Veterans, and finally a bell was tolled for each of the three Primrose Veterans we have lost.

To conclude the ceremony Amanda sang “Some Gave All” and the newest Veterans led the group to the Fireside Lounge where their photos — showing them during both their wartime service and in present day — were unveiled and celebrated by a standing ovation. Veteran’s Day is such an important holiday, but here at Primrose it was especially meaningful to see the pride in each face and the appreciation shown by the entire Primrose Family to our Heroes.

Every branch of our Nation’s Military is represented at Primrose of Pueblo and we are always ready to welcome more! Among our residents we currently have 1 Coast Guard, 1 Marine Corp, 1 Air Force, 1 Merchant Marine, 4 Army, and 7 Navy. I will always be proud to be an Army Veteran, but being part of the Primrose Family as a Life Enrichment Director enriches my life immensely. Saluting all our Primrose Veterans, I would like to say “Thank you for your example of ‘This Is Living!’”
