PSU students study unique topics
Council Bluffs Senior Living
Class is officially in session for the residents of Primrose in Council Bluffs, Iowa! Primrose Senior University had its first class, otherwise known as “syllabus” day, which is the day both the instructor and students talk about expectations for the next four months, as well as plot an outline of the course study. (In this case, the teacher will do just as much learning!)
Not an educational institution by trade, Primrose recently created several “universities” at other Primrose community locations with the goal of teaching topics that are fun and interesting to learn — stuff that’s not normally taught in schools (especially not at the university level).
The first lesson will be on word and phrase origin: Ever wonder where the phrase “he/she is a basket case” or “till the cows come home” or “three sheets to the wind” came from? Although people use phrases like these nearly every day, the phrases’ unusual and peculiar origins are almost always unknown yet perfectly fascinating!
Another class will study the greatest presidential stories never told. Did you know that there was a U.S. president who skinny-dipped every morning before he began his day in the oval office?
