Elvis tours the Wasilla Primrose
Rockin at the Wasilla Primrose
On Friday August 13, 2010, to kick off Elvis Week, the Wasilla Primrose Retirement Community dusted off their blue suede shoes, got out their best gold sunglasses and shook, rattled and rolled with Elvis! Elvis Week is celebrated the third week in August as a celebration of the life of Elvis Presley. Elvis passed away on August 16th 1977 at his home in Graceland. To celebrate all things Elvis, fans across the world mark this week with dances, impersonations and their favorite Elvis tunes. The Wasilla Primrose was no exception.
Martin James with Alaska Professional Entertainment entertained the Wasilla Primrose seniors with a wonderful mix of 40’s-60’s music, and some great Elvis tunes. The residents had a wonderful time, as did many folks from the local community! Elvis even made an appearance; singing, dancing and taking the time to pose for pictures with everyone before he “left the building!” There was good food, great music and lots of laughter. Everyone danced their way home at the end of the evening, humming an Elvis tune and smiling.
