Pueblo, CO, Retirement Communities

What a special day we were privileged to witness at Primrose of Pueblo recently, as three of our WWII military veterans were inducted onto “The Primrose Wall of Honor.”

Axel “Ax” Levene served as a radio operator in the Pacific while in the Navy.

James “Jim” Mussett and his wife Beverly served together to help supply the troops with uniforms and equipment. He was in the Army and she in the Women’s Army Corp based at Contra Costa, CA.

Each was honored with a certificate of appreciation for their service and then their photos were unveiled by Executive Director Glinda MacKenzie and Maintenance Director Mike DeCarlo. The Mussett and Levene families, staff and residents were all present to for this important event, and Primrose residents Bernie & Ruth sang America the Beautiful and God Bless America as part of the ceremony.

The Life Enrichment Team consisting of Barbara and Heidi have made this an important ritual for each Primrose Veteran. Congratulations Ax, Jim and Beverly. Primrose is grateful to all our Veterans for your service. Thank You!

KC Primrose Hosts 'The Follies' Musical

Kansas City Primrose Follies Musical

The Follies musical utilized the many talents of both our residents and our employees. The program began with resident John, a talented musician who, despite the fact that he cannot read a single note, plays the piano by ear. Marian, another of our talented residents, played the piano with him for a few numbers as well. Together, they played “I’m In the Mood for Love” and other old time favorites.

Next, John and his wife Marie tripped the light fantastic with ballroom dancing. We had three guest performers who played the clarinet, accordion and the guitar.

Bo then performed a few old Gene Autry songs, and bragged about his ability to perform rope tricks. He is a true cowboy at heart and loves to serenade the ladies!

Cindy, one of our nurses, is a great singer. Cindy performs at clubs when she is not working at Primrose, and she even managed to get her mom, Evelyn, into the act. Evelyn is a resident here and played the part of the “St. Louis Girl” – or as Cindy called her – a floozy!

Lastly we ended the program with the “Primrose Dancers.” Cindy and Jill, who work for Primrose as the LEC and LEC assistant respectively, did a number to “One” from A Chorus Line. It didn’t turn out to bad considering they only practiced twice.

We had over 70 residents attend the event and they are wanting to know when we can do it again! We are looking into doing another show in the fall.
