Frequent questions

Q: Do you have a nurse on site 24 hours a day?

A: Yes. We have a licensed nurse on-site 24 hours a day. It’s very important to ask retirement communities if a nurse is “available” 24 hours a day, or if he or she is actually “on-site”.

Q: Is rent all-inclusive? What is all included?

A: Yes. Residents receive the following with their rent: 2 or 3 meals a day, all utilities, cable television, garbage pick-up, transportation, activities, emergency call system, housekeeping and so much more.

Q: Can you transport residents to doctors and dentists and is that an extra fee?

A: Yes, we can. And no, it is not! We transport residents in our Primrose van to doctors and dentists every day. It does not cost the residents any money to utilize this service.

Q: Is there a lease?

A: Residents must sign a 3-month lease. Once the 3 months is up, then rent is on a month-to-month basis.

Q: I’ve heard about Veteran’s Benefits, what is this?

A: Veterans or widows of veterans can qualify to receive the “Aid and Attendance” benefits from the Veteran’s Administration. About 75% of our residents are receiving this. Veterans can receive up to $1,664 a month, and widows can receive $1,055. There are qualifying factors, however it is a pretty simple process.

Q: How do I reserve an apartment?

A: All you have to do is put down a $1,000 deposit which will hold the apartment of your choice for 30 days. If you cannot move-in within 30 days, your deposit can either be returned or you can be put on the waiting list.

Q: What kind of activities do you offer your residents?

A: Where should we begin?! Our Activities Director is responsible for putting together a calendar full of options. We have a lot of musical entertainment, from pianists to vocalists to bands. We have an exercise program in the Wellness Center that meets several times a week. Once a week we have cocktail parties in the Pub. There is a schedule of movies that are showing in the theater. We have ice cream socials, games, parties, big public events and so much more!

Q: Do you have a garden that residents can enjoy?

A: Yes, and in fact, it’s a raised garden! The garden is outside in the Courtyard and is growing tomatoes and cucumbers right now.

Q: Do you allow pets?

A: Yes and we have several dogs and cats living among us. Several of the dogs come to the front offices to get a “special treat”!

Q: How do you differ from other retirement communities?

A: We are different in a lot of different areas. We are independent and assisted living. Independent folks can choose between living inside the building or in one of our outside villas. We have a nurse on-site 24 hours a day which is so important. We also have a board-certified medical doctor who frequents our community for regular appointments or as needed. For more information, just call us!

Q: How do I know if my loved one needs independent living or assisted living?

A: Folks who need meals prepared, transportation and social activities would do fine in independent living. Once a resident needs medication management, bathing assistance, dressing and grooming among other types of daily living assistance, assisted living is the best option.

Q: How do I know what level of care my loved one is at?

A: Our Director of Nursing will help make this decision with you. She will complete an assessment prior to your loved one moving in. This assessment is important because this helps us prepare for the arrival of new residents so we know just what to do the moment they walk into the door! We have four levels. The number of care services we provide will determine which level your loved one will be one.

Q: Are there visiting hours?

A: No. We have an open-door policy. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to visit at any time.

Q: Are your doors locked at all times? I’m concerned about people walking in and out who have no business being there.

A: You don’t have to worry about this. We have side doors that are always locked. Our front doors are open during the days when staff is here. The main doors are locked as soon as it gets dark. Family members are given keys to the building so they can come in during locked hours. It’s important that our residents know only those we trust are given keys to.
